We were bass fishing this evening and it started to rain so we were headed back to the boat landing when we saw stripers jumping and breaking in the middle of the lake. We grabbed our rods and started casting. I landed 2 about 23 inches and they started busting about a hundred yards further up the lake and my son caught his first striper that was 27 inches on a cotton cordell spoon. Then they stopped for about 30 minutes until we saw them breaking across the lake on the other bank. We started up and ran over to them and I landed a a 29 inch and my wife caught her first stripers 24 inches long. It was awesome and now my family is hooked on stripers fishing.

I wish someone had been filming us when we ran into those fish. In trying to get the rods out we somehow managed to tangle all the rods up in one big bunch. It took me 10 minutes to get them untangled so we could cast. I did plan ahead and had 2 hooked up just incase this ever happened. I remember my grandfather and grandmother talking about everything get tangled and hooks flying everywhere and now I see how it can happened. Crazy!

Awesome! I have some great footage from last year where all my poles were a tangled bird nest, I was cussing and fish were exploding all around the boat. And all I could do was watch. That rush can make a man go nuts. Great job getting the family addicted!

Drool. . . can you give any sort of very general proximity? Main lake or up the river arms? Been fishing the Roanoke arm north of the lake in the evenings and its been pretty quiet on top, though we've had a few striper sneak up and surprise us on the fly rods. Would love to see some busting fish!!

Its the most fun when you catch them breaking, I always keep a couple of rods to throw and usually a munkey to throw when they go down, that works too.
