We got to the lake late about 7pm on Saturday. I planned to fish Sunday morning so I thought I would do a bit of scouting around Saturday evening. I hadn't fished in 3 weeks and I was itching to get on the water for a while. I went with the intention of being out for about an hour but it turned into just over 3 hours. I suppose I must have been in the right couple of places at the right time. I came across several very large schools and fortunately I brought along a few jigging rods. I ended up filling up several pages in the fishing diary for the DGIF. Most of the fish I caught were around 25 inches, a few smaller and a couple that were near 30 inches. I kept two that were bleeding badly. Reaching my creel limit was the only thing that stopped me. That was fun.
Most of the fish I caught were in 20-25 feet of water.
I don't enjoy eating fish so I gave the two I brought back to my neighbor. As we cleaned the first one, we found what seemed to be small pellets about the size of a pencil lead in the gut wall at the rib cage. There were hundreds of these pellets. None were found in the second fish. Can anyone tell me what those pellets were?

Found something similar in a fish we caught. Ask VDIF and I was told it was a parasite. They told me the fish was absolutely safe to eat. I have been trying to find out if the parasite hurts the fish. The fish we caught was about 30 in and in perfect condition except for all the pencil lead size parasites. Hope this helps
