I was at the lake this weekend for the 4th. Decided beforehand I wouldn't even take the CC off the lift. Too many crazies for fishing. Spent a lot of time on the inboard boat though ( yes...I've got one of those G'dang wakeboard boats...love every inch of it).
Of course....I saw busting fish ( BIG school) just off Christmas tree on Thur., busting fish off 3 islands on Sat., busting fish in a little cove near Crazy Horse on Sat. All in the evening. All without a fishing pole in sight. My 17 year old did catch a nice 15lber off the dock on an alewive Sat. night. I was fast asleep.
I'll probably go out next weekend and not see a splash.

lund1, i too was at the lake for the 4th this weekend. i didnt fish off a boat for striper either, but for different reasons. all weekend my stubborn uncle kept blaming me for not charging the battery in his boat long enough, or not doing it properly or whatever lame excuse he had. all weekend i told him he needed a new battery that his current one was done. this is despite me having charged his battery many times over years prior. instead of going and buying one, he spent all weekend messing with battery chargers and having my "know-it-all" brother in law messing with it. i kept saying it was bad and he wouldnt believe me until my brother in law came to the same conclusion(much longer after i did)...yet he had the nerve to complain about not being able to do any fishing this weekend, despite sitting around in a recliner for 4 days when he couldve went and bought a battery...not to mention, him and my genius brother in law hooked a battery charger up to the wave runner and fried the battery on it because they used the wrong settings on the charger...
