Weather: Upper 80's, Sunny skies, winds from S around 10
Water: 83, visibility of a few feet
Techniques: Downline ales (4), lightline ales (4)
What do you do with left-over bait? Well, go fish of course......
As the Holiday weekend came to a close, I had some ales left over from the morning trip and Tyler, Nathan and I were talking about doing some fishing somewhere on the lake in the evening. We tossed around a couple of ideas and finally decided that the ales in my tank should not go to waste, and given I had found fish close to home in the morning we might as well see if we could close out with weekend with a few tight lines.
Tyler, Nathan, Nathan's son Ethan, our special guest Lilly and I got out around 6:15 or so and fished till about 8:30. Stayed close - did not mark as many fish as we did in the morning but we did see enough to warrant putting out lines. It took a bit longer but soon a rod was bending and Ethan was going at it.
Worked our way towards the mouth of the creek when a rod went down again - and while Ethan was fighting it another rod bent over and Tyler grabbed that one.... unfortunately Ethan chose poorly on grabbing the 1st rod
We kept Ethan busy on and off for the evening while we fought the wind and the last remaining wakeboarders and pleasure boaters - some of which decided the wise thing to do was to pass between us and the bank in the 50' of space that was there.
Nathan and I even got in on the fun
And Lilly approved of the catch
The bites were fairly mixed between down-lines and light-lines this evening, with them coming closer to the mouth of the channel and channel points. Good way to close off a nice 4th of July weekend!
