We put in around noon for another leisurely afternoon trip. There was virtually no traffic. I think the combo of a day when a lot of people are forced to make nice with relatives plus it being a little chilly and windy combined to keep the booze cruisers at home. We had a tough time getting bait at first. All the the easy schools we found were peanuts. I moved back into the mud and caught 3 OK sized shad and one monster that could have passed for a small carp. We decided to fish with what we had and look for more bait if the fishing was good. Well it was good. We found a little creek that was loaded with scattered money makers in the back and active stripers near the back. We'd make a pass on the hot spot, catch a fish, then throw the net once getting 1-5 gizzards, then turn around pull out and back, throw the net again, rinse, repeat. I think we ended up with 6 stripers from 29" to 33" and one flathead. Made it back home with plenty of daylight left.

Oh it's broken in all right... The inside is covered in mud and blood and the outside looks like someone took a dump over the side from where muddy nets have been slapping against the boat. All hatches have a layer of leaves and moss in the gutters. I hope my spot doesn't get over fished.. I seem to have a channel marker in the background.

Wasn't excited at all about a swimming snake, I've seen plenty of those, even had a few cottonmouths fall in the boat with me when fishing the edisto in a Jon boat (thats exciting)
To this day though I have seen 1 and only 1 swimming squirrel!

I didn't measure him. He weighed 19 lbs.
It was kinda funny. We had a light line dangling off the back of the boat with a money maker while getting some more bait. Just as my cast net hit the water in front of the boat, that rod in the back of the boat started screaming.

brcarls, everytime I see the pic above, I can't help but chuckle. First time I have every seen a guys face blurred out in a fishing report. ......convict? ?.....ugly? ?.......son-n-law? ?...... I've tried to narrow it down, can't be mward>to slim, can't be bigjon> ain't no way he would put his beer down to use both hands to hold a fish, can't be superstriper>he would have his BASS hat on, can't be leo>there would be an 89 year old, 2 foot long white beard hanging below the blur, can't be wish>since they legalized gay marriage, he done run off with Harvick......

I was going for chuckles with that one, but I'm amazed that no-one commented on the first one with the markers in the background

Heck. I was thinking the reason you blurred the guys face was to draw attention away from the markers.....you know, it's blurred so there must be something hiding here approach.....wasn't anyway I was going to bring up the markers. Ha!!!!!!
