Started our 2 hour and 45 min drive to SML @ 3:00am -- Boat was in the water at 6:05am, dropped off some things in the room and headed out to catch bait around 6:20am. After four hours of throwing the net in the back of many creeks and some small coves off the main channel -- we started our fishing adventure.
Weather -- sunny -- wind - 5 to 15 throughout the day -
Water Temp -- 56 to 64 by the end of the day
Bait -- 7inch to (13inch but not many of those in the tank)
12pm to 1:45 ---- During our first pull we introduced ourselves to Mward, who was bait collecting for his weekend --- This rotation produced 1 fish for release (30 inches) and 1 eater for the dinner table.
We then decided to go on another bait hunt and top off our tank for the evening fishing rotation --
3pm to 5pm --- Back at it again -- this rotation was a little better with 5 fish in the boat - 1 of which was an eater for table -- 3 hook ups that immediately ran us into overhangs on the bank and broke us off.
2 other fish we lost mid-fight with hook pulling out-- That was a pretty solid 2 hours of non stop action - Most of the fish were in the 28 inch to 32 inch range, biggest around 13lbs or so
We then made a conscience decision to try another area out because we wanted to evaluate another creek --
5:30 to 7pm --- This area produces 1 eater and many pull backs but no other fish in the boat ---
Headed back to the Marina to charge batteries and have a little supper and Prepare for the Striped Yammmmer to get here at 430am --
It is always a great day when you are fishing!!!!!!!!!
