I am now a 16 pound net throwing machine. Why..because I threw the damn thing 50 times today and may have caught 3 or 4 mongos all day. Weird. We caught many 10 inch and less but the Mongos were hard to catch. Unfortunately we set our standards too high today and spent more time throwing than fishing. In other words, I had a smile on my face all day long. The few stripers we did catch were welcomed by me as a means for lowering our bait count so that I could get back to throwing. We also had a two pound smallie choke down a 10 inch shad. That was cool!
The net. Well..no doubt...the Tim Wade is solid. It actually pulled up a crappie tree with a bucket and did not tear at all. It even landed a bunch of crappie with the tree. I have also noticed that the knots are extra large which make for a solid build but will turn your hands into taco meat. However, using ski gloves with cut out fingers has worked wonders when combined with athletic tape wrapped around both pinkies. These gloves are made to grip a rope and work. You should try them if you still have hands with live nerve endings.

They always disappear mid April as they go roaming the banks in much smaller schools or even solo. You have to work harder for them or just fish with what you can get. Sometimes you'll get lucky though and find a few.

But hey...my hands are silky smooth and having no feeling is better than the intense and sharp pains I was feeling a few hour ago. Right?? As I tell my students, "learning is impossible unless you are willing to make mistakes."
