The good: I was at the lake! 5th was very windy, & since I don't own a trolling motor yet, finding a cove with no wind and fishing was tuff that morning. Did finally get to use my new fishfinder. Later that afternoon my son and I snagged one on the u-rig, 20"+. 6th went out about 6:30 am in search of some bait to drift around with. FF was showing this in the back. Not sure if this was bait or fish, still learning. Threw a dozen times in a cove just above me. No luck. So I cruised around searching some spots. Finally decided to break out the U-rig again, netted another 16" fish. U-rigs don't catch the pigs but they sure are exciting when they start to zing. WT was from 50-53 degrees both days. The bad: lost a u-rig and may have burned a reel? Attachments:

The wind Sat was a pain. Sunday was supposed to be "light and variable" but sure seemed more than that. On the sonar - could be big bait or maybe fish (crappie, perch, small Striper) - a little hard to tell on downscan without the regular sonar as well to see color / intensity arches to help tell size. How deep of water was that in? Looks like you should have been able to net a few as dense as if it wasn't too deep if they were gizzards depending on the net and depth. If you've not already purchased a u-rig retriever - get one

I was in about 15FOW. But like you said staying in one place is hard. Trying to sell my trailer to get a trolling motor, soon I hope. I figured it was probably small fish or large bait also. Net throwing is still a learning process as is all of striper fishing. I have a retriever but couldn't get it to catch before the line rubbed the boat and broke. I made the mistake and had that rig on the mono reel I use for floats or downlines. I have never had a line break on Power Pro 65#.
