Hey guys, I am relatively new to SML. Went last year a couple times and had 2 successful trips launching from Moormans and fishing Beaverdam. I've fished for striper a lot in Claytor Lake and Lake Norman so I know mostly what I am doing, but I was hoping you guys could help me with a bait question. Last year I seemed to never find a good spot for bait and only had enough after what felt like a hundred casts by the ramp and in the back of beaverdam creek. I noticed there is a creek above Moormans called "Falling Creek" that has a feeder creek running in to it. Is this a good place to net bait? I've never gone above Moormans and I'd hate to waste a run up there for nothing and then run all the way back down. Also, please let me know if there is anywhere else around Moormans that typically holds bait this time of year if you guys know of one.
Thanks for any info/help and I'll make sure to post about my trip afterwards!

Go to the back of Beaverdam and look around. I suspect the bait might be way back with the sunny days coming. Don't be afraid to hit 3 foot depths and look for pips. If you find this situation..you are golden. If not.. check the various docks with side scan. If you get into 20 plus water...a 10 foot 1.5 lb net is almost a must unless you don't mind catching one bait every 3 throws. I will tell you...I wish I was going fishing where you plan to fish on Wednesday! Have fun!

Thanks StripedYam. I'll most likely just run straight to the back for bait since it's been good before. Has anyone had any experience finding bait in Falling Creek or should I just not waste my time going up there? Another question, how close are you guys pulling boards to the banks right now?

My data suggests that right on the bank is the winner. And I mean get ready to tug your line away from obstructions close. If you ain't worried about getting hung up, you ain't close enough.
