Keep getting some bluebacks. Cut em open and you can tell the difference from ale. Black on bluebacks. Silver on alewives. You can tell by the head too if you look real close but not real easy to tell. Bluebacks have a slightly thinner profile on the head from what I can tell.

Whats the update on these? I ran into some olde timers today who began discussing these. They mentioned they have seen a major pattern change in the LMB and think they are being reintroduced. They said the bluebacks stay deeper causing the predators to follow.
Thoughts?

There's always been bluebacks..they're the same thing as an alewife! Dan Wilson told us a study was done by a tech student I think and he found almost all of them were a cross between an alewife and a blueback anyways.
We caught a 5lb bass in 2ft of water today. Maybe the bass guys should use shad.
